Job Description
We are hiring a Signalling Design Verifier to assure the quality, safety, and compliance of railway signalling designs across a portfolio of complex, multidisciplinary rail programs within our Swindon office.
You will lead independent verification activities, drive design assurance to industry standards, and partner with designers, integrators, and safety engineers to deliver right-first-time outcomes.
Here’s what you’ll do:
* Independently verify signalling designs and calculations (e.g., interlocking logic, control tables, schematics, circuits, axle counters, level crossings, TPWS/ATP/ETCS interfaces) against project requirements and applicable standards.
* Develop and execute verification plans, checklists, and test evidence aligned to V‑model/V&V processes and project quality plans.
* Confirm compliance with railway signalling standards and regulations (e.g., CENELEC EN 50126/50128/50129 or applicable national rail standards) and contribute to safety case evidence.
* Review and challenge design assumptions, hazards, SIL allocations, and RAM implications; ensure traceability from requirements to verified outputs.
* Coordinate and chair design reviews; log, track, and close out verification comments and non‑conformances.
* Sign off verification deliverables in accordance with delegated authority and governance (including independence from design where required).
* Interface with clients, maintainers, systems engineers, and test/commissioning teams to de‑risk integration and handover.
* Support configuration management, change control, and as‑built verification; contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement.
* Mentor designers and checkers; promote a culture of quality, safety, and accountability.
Qualifications
Here’s what we’re looking for:
* Engineering degree (Electrical/Electronics/Systems/Control or related) or equivalent industry experience.
* Relevant professional accreditation/licensing valued (e.g., IRSE/Chartered/PE/Equivalent — Verifier category where applicable).
* Demonstrated competence verifying to applicable railway standards and safety/regulatory frameworks.
