Pharmacist – Fortuneswell Pharmacy – Dorset County Hospital
Job Summary
An exciting opportunity for a registered Pharmacist to join Fortuneswell Pharmacy, part of Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The role involves delivering a high quality, safe pharmacy service to outpatients, providing clinical screening of prescriptions and pharmaceutical advice, and acting as Responsible Pharmacist in the absence of the Superintendent Pharmacist.
Responsibilities
* Clinically screen prescriptions and provide pharmaceutical advice to patients and healthcare professionals.
* Coordinate the day‑to‑day operations of the dispensary.
* Act as the Responsible Pharmacist when the Superintendent is absent.
* Lead, support, and model best practice for pharmacy support staff.
* Contribute to service improvement and development of new services.
* Provide leadership and operate as a role model to the team.
Essential Requirements
* Registered Pharmacist with the GPhC.
* Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent.
* Post‑registration experience as a Responsible Pharmacist in a busy community or hospital pharmacy.
* Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
* Strong knowledge of NHS hospital prescribing and formularies.
* Demonstrated ability to check prescriptions independently and determine appropriate actions.
* Excellent spoken and written English language skills.
* Computer literacy and keyboard skills.
* Ability to work flexibly within a team and supervise, motivate and direct staff.
* Committed to continuing professional development.
Desirable
* Experience in hospital pharmacy.
* Experience leading a team in a busy dispensary environment.
* Higher degree or postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy.
Salary & Benefits
Band 7; £47,810 to £54,710 per annum. Permanent, full‑time contract. Retention and recruitment premium offered.
