Job Description
Design, deliver, and assess high-quality creative study programmes including UAL Level 1 Diploma in Art, Design & Media, Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design, and Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design, and Communication. Inspire and motivate students through outstanding teaching and learning that challenges them to excel.
Lecturers should be passionate about their teaching area and enthusiastic about developing students’ English, Maths, and employability skills. Regular target setting and progress monitoring will underpin your work to ensure all students achieve successful outcomes.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
The following outlines the main priorities of this role as directed by your line manager and is not exhaustive:
1. Deliver high-quality teaching: Prepare teaching materials, develop curricula, undertake quality assurance, assess student work, monitor progress, and maintain statutory compliance including safeguarding, equal opportunities, and health and safety.
2. Course management duties: Manage communication, problem-solving, timetable adjustments, cover arrangements, work experience and enrichment activities, internal verification, and administrative tasks to ensure compliance and consistency across sites.
3. Recruitment and enrolment: Assist with candidate selection, manage enrolments, and organize induction programmes.
4. Student support: Conduct meetings, set SMART targets, assist with UCAS references, support pastoral needs, and liaise with college services.
5. Monitoring and reporting: Track attendance, results, and course performance, and develop action plans as needed.
6. Meetings and events: Attend and contribute to staff meetings, parent evenings, marketing events, and other college activities.
7. Curriculum development: Collaborate with colleagues to develop courses and participate in CPD and peer observation, including mentoring new lecturers.
8. Administration: Mark registers, update records, produce reports, and manage VLE content.
9. Quality assurance: Participate in meetings, course reviews, verification, and self-assessment activities.
