About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Technician to join our team. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality animal husbandry and ensuring the health and well-being of our animals.
Main Responsibilities
* Conduct daily animal husbandry duties, including feeding, watering, cleaning, animal handling and animal observations as directed by the team leader or supervisor.
* Complete daily monitoring and reporting of the animal unit environment, including temperatures, and the security and suitability of animal housing.
* Clean and maintain animal rooms, associated areas and equipment, in accordance with work instructions.
* Record all relevant departmental data, including day books, production reports and stock availability records.
* Receive and dispatch goods in/out of the animal facility, using correct sterilisation procedures to maintain animal barrier status.
* Produce, birth, wean, sex, count and weigh animals.
* Implement basic animal breeding systems and select replacement breeding stock based on criteria.
* Re-house and group animals according to Home Office guidelines, as directed by the team leader.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Hold a Level 2 Diploma in Animal Management.
* Have experience in routine manual work that requires attention to detail.
* Be experienced in routine animal husbandry.
* Have experience in animal handling of all species on site.
