Amazon Operations Manager Job Description
Amazon Operations primarily involve inventory planning & supply chain management, warehouse operations, transportation, 3P seller order fulfillment, customer returns, and customer service. The tasks handled by operations directly impact customer experience with Amazon.com. You will work with the leadership team to improve existing systems or processes, devise new methods, and reduce defects to serve Amazon’s customers better. Your role will include analyzing data, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and piloting improvements aligned with our goal to be the Earth’s Most Customer-Centric Company.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Drive the creation of staffing plans, schedules, quality initiatives, process change initiatives, and other Six Sigma projects to meet and exceed business goals. Set and clarify requirements and expectations for Area Managers.
2. Measure performance, provide feedback, and hold team leads accountable for their department's performance.
3. Proactively share best practices across departments, shifts, and the network.
4. Collaborate with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, S&LP, IT Managers) to secure support and resources for projects and initiatives.
5. Address operational and personnel issues impacting the functional area.
6. Identify and escalate issues affecting multiple areas, along with potential solutions, to senior management.
7. Focus on safety, quality, customer experience, and productivity within your department.
8. Review work forecasts and determine productivity requirements to meet daily objectives.
9. Partner with other Area Managers to balance labor and ensure efficient operations while achieving goals.
10. Support safety programs and OSHA compliance to ensure a safe work environment.
11. Lead process improvement initiatives using Lean tools.
Basic Qualifications:
* 1+ years of employee and performance management experience.
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of experience in performance metrics, process improvement, or lean techniques.
* Flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, or holidays.
* Ability to push and pull loaded wheeled dollies up to 100 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
* 1+ years of experience in performance metrics, process improvement, or lean techniques.
