*Beef Boning Hall Supervisor – Job Description*
*Overview*
The Beef Boning Hall Supervisor plays a key leadership role within the meat processing facility, ensuring the efficient, safe, and high‑quality boning and trimming of beef products. This position oversees daily operations, leads and supports production teams, maintains compliance with food safety standards, and drives continuous improvement across the boning hall.
*Key Responsibilities*
*Operational Leadership*
* Supervise day‑to‑day operations within the beef boning hall to meet production targets, yield expectations, and customer specifications.
* Coordinate workflow, staffing, and line balance to maintain smooth and efficient production.
* Monitor product quality, trim levels, and cutting accuracy, ensuring all output meets required standards.
*Team Management*
* Lead, motivate, and support a team of butchers, trimmers, packers, and operatives.
* Conduct training, coaching, and skills development to maintain high performance and safe working practices.
* Manage attendance, performance issues, and shift handovers professionally and consistently.
*Food Safety & Compliance*
* Ensure strict adherence to procedures, hygiene, and food safety regulations at all times.
* Work closely with Quality Assurance teams to address non‑conformances and implement corrective actions.
* Maintain accurate records for audits, traceability, and regulatory compliance.
*Health & Safety*
* Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all staff follow safe systems of work.
* Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and support accident investigations where required.
* Ensure equipment, tools, and PPE are used correctly and maintained in safe condition.
*Production Efficiency & Continuous Improvement*
* Monitor yields, throughput, waste, and downtime, taking action to improve performance.
* Identify opportunities to enhance processes, reduce costs, and increase productivity.
* Support implementation of lean manufacturing principles and best‑practice cutting techniques.
*Communication & Reporting*
* Provide clear communication between production teams, management, engineering, and quality departments.
* Prepare daily production reports, yield summaries, and performance updates.
* Participate in planning meetings and contribute to operational decision‑making.
*Skills & Experience*
*Essential*
* Previous experience in beef boning, butchery, or meat processing operations.
* Strong understanding of beef anatomy, cutting specifications, and yield optimisation.
* Proven supervisory or team‑leader experience in a fast‑paced production environment.
* Knowledge of HACCP, food safety standards, and health & safety regulations.
* Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organisational skills.
*Desirable*
* Experience working with automated or semi‑automated processing equipment.
* Understanding of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £16.00-£22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
