About The Role
Balfour Beatty seeks a dedicated and skilled Site Engineer to join our Power T&D Team, based in Scotland across various locations. The role includes a comprehensive 13‑week Upskilling Programme designed to accelerate professional growth and equip you with the latest industry competencies, covering core and mandatory training such as health and safety, first aid, digital skills, project management, technical documentation, environmental sustainability, and commercial awareness. This immersive programme combines hands‑on technical sessions, cutting‑edge digital tools, project shadowing, and a final capability assessment, preparing you to lead teams on live projects and advance your career within the organisation.
What you'll be doing
You’ll play a key role in the successful delivery of projects from planning and design through to commissioning, handover and close‑out. Working closely with the Project Manager and wider project team, you’ll interpret technical solutions and drawings, brief delivery teams clearly, and help ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently and right the first time. You’ll also monitor progress, maintain accurate project records, support reporting and reviews, and coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors and stakeholders to keep delivery on track in line with programme, cost, quality and safety requirements.
Who we're looking for
Minimum requirements:
* HNC Electrical or equivalent
* Full valid UK driving licence
Ideally you will have some or most of the following:
* Experience working in a construction engineering environment
* Experience implementing safe systems of work and managing risk and change
* Good understanding of project delivery, technical information, and site‑based coordination
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels
* A proactive, solutions‑focused approach with the ability to work well under pressure
* Good interpersonal skills and a collaborative, flexible mindset
* Awareness of commercial and contractual considerations
* Confidence using Microsoft 365
* Commitment to diversity, inclusion and continuous personal development
* A formal qualification in construction or engineering, or equivalent industry experience
* CSCS and SSSTS (or equivalent), or working towards them
The training course starts early August and requires full attendance of all 13 weeks.
