Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming and diverse secondary school in Brent that is seeking a TEFL-qualified Teaching Assistant to support students with English as an Additional Language (EAL) from September 2025. This full-time, long-term role is ideal for someone who wants to make a meaningful difference by helping EAL students access the curriculum and thrive academically.
About the Role:
As a TEFL Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with EAL needs.
* Help students build their English language proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
* Support students in accessing lessons across the curriculum, particularly in English, Humanities, and other language-heavy subjects.
* Work closely with EAL coordinators, teachers, and the SEN department to track progress and adapt support.
* Help develop resources and strategies to aid language acquisition and build student confidence.
What We're Looking For:
* A TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, or equivalent English language teaching qualification.
* Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting.
* Strong written and spoken English skills, with the ability to support grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension.
* A patient, empathetic, and culturally sensitive approach.
* Ability to support students from a wide range of language backgrounds.
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above); a degree is desirable but not essential.
