Overview

Join to apply for the Apprentice in Early Careers role at Somerset Council.

Somerset Council are looking for a Business Admin apprentice to join their Resourcing Team and work specifically on the Early Careers Strategy, supporting the lead with all workstreams, including apprenticeships, graduate recruitment and work experience.

Location: Somerset.
Contract: 24 months.
Hours: 37 per week, with 1 day per week for study outside of the office.

Salary: National Minimum Wage Pay Rates for an Apprentice (see details under Salary).

Responsibilities and duties

* Under supervision, deliver entry-level clerical and administrative support to the team/service as required.
* Liaise with stakeholders (e.g., training providers) to maintain accurate records relating to all initiatives of the Early Careers Strategy.
* Update and maintain a variety of records and filing systems; input and extract data using computerised systems.
* Assist in report writing to showcase the work of the team to senior colleagues; may involve attendance at meetings.
* Work with colleagues across HROD to design development sessions for the Young Employees’ Network.
* Support the Early Careers Officer with event organisation (attendance lists, agendas, supporting documents).
* Assist in workforce planning and recruitment of young people into the workforce; design internal and external communications to advertise development opportunities or vacancies.
* Support with the organisation of work experience opportunities and the annual graduate programme (shortlisting against set criteria).

You will be supported by your Line Manager and other colleagues in the HR&OD Service and will have contact with a variety of individuals within the Council.

Essential qualifications

* Maths and English GCSE grade 4/C or higher.


Future prospects

Apprentices will have the opportunity to apply for various positions on completion of the apprenticeship or progress into similar positions with other employers.

Salary: National Minimum Wage Pay Rates for an Apprentice: Under 18: £7.55, 18-20: £10.00, 21 and over: £12.21 (per hour).
