Description Are you looking for a varied and interesting new role working in a busy, high profile and fast-moving area of work? The Workforce Pay and Strategy Policy Official role sits within the Agenda for Change (AfC) Team, part of the wider Health Workforce Pay, Practice and Partnership Division. The AfC Team has responsibility for a variety of issues relating to the pay, terms & conditions for staff on AfC contracts in the NHS, including nurses, physios, allied health professionals and porters. The team recently led the recent pay negotiations for AfC staff in Scotland. This role presents an opportunity to quickly gain experience of working in a high level role with ministerial, parliamentary and media interest. It will also afford you the chance to be involved in unique pieces of programme and project delivery work, working alongside stakeholders to deliver against recommendations from the workforce plans whilst considering wider health policy developments. Flexibility and adaptability are key in this role! As the work of the Division and wider Directorate evolves to meet priorities, the nature of the job and responsibilities may change over time. Responsibilities Stakeholder engagement, internal and external. This includes liaising with senior NHS and NHS trade union officials providing policy support. Tracking of senior NHS Performance management cycle and working with analysts to produce data to inform outcomes. Secretariat of the performance Board who manage the yearly cycle. Ensuring appropriate paper collation and minute taking and supporting the team leader to ensure the outcomes are delivered to timescale. Providing secretariat to NHS Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions working groups (various policies are reviewed through each year requiring policy support). This post provides a necessary IMSO role in an area that requires stringent information governance controls. Business continuity building. NHS Pay is a complex area, this post assists with project management to ensure deliverables are achieved for both pay negotiations and non-pay policy delivery. Supporting the updating of FMQ’s and Core Briefs. If invited for further assessment, this will consist of an interview and presentation. Assessments are scheduled for w/c 14 July 2025 however this may be subject to change.
