University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust offers a dynamic opportunity to join our department as an Out of Hours Administrator.
Role Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and responsible person to support ward-based operations during the out‑of‑hours service. The primary focus will be maintaining real‑time bed state, supporting patient flow, and performing a range of administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide pivotal admin support to allocated wards.
* Maintain a real‑time bed state by updating in‑house systems with all patient movements.
* Support patient flow by updating the ePatient boards and efficiently booking transport as requested.
* Relieve clinical staff of general administrative procedures where appropriate.
* Act as receptionist to patients and visitors and answer the phones.
* Manage patients’ notes during admission and following discharge.
* Ensure patient episodes are recorded correctly and demographics are updated in the system.
Working Hours
Cover 2–3 evening shifts (≈15:00‑21:30) and one weekend shift (≈08:00‑16:00); a rolling two‑week pattern will be provided.
Qualifications & Experience
* Good IT skills and ability to be proficient using multiple in‑house systems; in‑house training will be provided.
* Proficiency with Microsoft packages, particularly Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
* Confidence working as part of a multidisciplinary team in busy ward environments, ability to work unsupervised, and manage workload with initiative.
