Alternatively, EPA have a proven track record of "growing our own" Biomedical Scientist's and this position is suitable for candidates that have an IBMS accredited degree and are seeking a laboratory based position to complete their registration portfolio for HCPC registration.
Working as part of the Eastern Pathology Alliance, based at the James Paget University Hospital Great Yarmouth, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a cutting edge Laboratory encompassing Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology, Transfusion and Andrology. We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Multidisciplinary Blood Science Spoke Laboratory at the James Paget University Hospital. The successful candidate will ideally be multidisciplinary trained in Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistry. If you have an interest in training as a multidisciplinary Biomedical Scientist, we would welcome your application. You will be joining a friendly vibrant team in a recently refurbished laboratory. The Laboratory operates Abbott Alinity Haematology and Chemistry analysers, Werfen TOPS coagulation and Grifols Blood Grouping analysers in Transfusion.
Responsibilities
* Communicates complex service related test information to managers, consultants, nurses, other health care colleagues, patients and patient carers.
* Trained to operate and manage software databases on complex clinical analysers.
* Use research & development protocols on daily basis to provide statistical presentations of internal quality control (QC) to assess equipment performance in line with QC rules (e.g. Westgard).
* To receive appropriate training and maintain competency to the level required for Band 5 staff in order to support all services within the Blood Sciences Laboratory (Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology and Transfusion).
* To abide by the Health and Safety Code of Practice for the Service.
Qualifications & Requirements
* State registered Biomedical Scientist or equivalent, with the potential to train as a multidisciplinary Biomedical Scientist for HCPC registration.

Travel, DBS & NHS Service
* Travelling to work. Staff parking is available onsite; however, this is limited during core working hours. We have more capacity in the evening and at weekends and can usually provide spaces during those hours. The NNUH host multiple bicycle racks and a salary sacrifice scheme. We also benefit from a Beryl station onsite. If you work at another Trust site, please discuss travel and parking arrangements at interview.
* DBS: If this post involves working with children or adults the application form will ask for information regarding previous convictions as you will be required to undertake a Criminal Record and Barring Check known as a DBS check. If you are a new employee or registering with the Staff Bank you will need to meet the cost of this unless your salary is below Band 4 (AfC).
