Linton Primary is a small school located in the village of Linton Colliery in Northumberland, which provides academic and pastoral provision for children from Nursery to Year 6. In September 2025, we expanded, opening an additional support base on site. A second base will open in September 2026.
The vast majority of our children have SEND, many with EHCPs, so we operate quite differently to a typical, mainstream primary school. A number of our children have moved to our school due to its smaller size, bespoke approach, and commitment to inclusivity.
We have a spacious and secure building set in grounds with two large play areas, an enclosed Sensory Garden, and a Forest School Camp (with planning permissions granted for a second Forest School site). We also have access to playing fields and a play park directly outside the school gates.
Our ethos of being “intentionally inclusive” is at the heart of everything we do, and we consistently strive for a balance between high expectations for children’s academic attainment, progress, and potential, as well as their personal and social development.
We are looking to appoint three committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to expand our staff team. This role is ideal for those who genuinely have a passion for helping all children, particularly those with learning difficulties, and experience of working with such pupils.
The basis of the role is permanent, with 32.25 hours per week (worked over 5 days between 7.30am and 5pm) as a Teaching Assistant at Band 3/Level 2 TA, Term Time + 5 days inset. Additional hours may be available moving forward within wrap-around provision/transport team.
What are we looking for in you:
* Applicants will have previous experience of working with children with SEND, either in a school setting or as a voluntary worker.
* You will be educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
* You will be committed to personal learning and development, and have a sincere commitment to sharing our long-term aims and drive for continuous improvement.
* Resilience is vital to manage the day to day pressures that working in the classroom in a challenging school such as ours brings, as is flexibility and team work.
Visits to school are encouraged to enable candidates to fully understand the nature of our school. The location of our school means it is not easily accessible by public transport. Please ensure you will be able to travel to our site prior to making an application.
Closing Date: 12 noon - Wednesday, 22nd October 2025. Applicants will be informed by 6pm on Monday, 3rd November 2025, if they are to be invited to interview.
Completed applications should be returned directly to the school by email to: christine.sykes@linton.northumberland.sch.uk. Please note that references will be taken up prior to interview. Linton Primary School is strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure is required for this post.
