We’re currently supporting a leading engineering organisation in the offshore energy sector in their search for a Mechanical Engineer with experience in high-reliability mechanical design for harsh environments. This is an initial 12-month contract working on the design and development of subsea connector systems used in offshore applications. The role will start fully onsite in Barrow-In-Furness while you get up to speed, moving to a hybrid model (3 days onsite) once established.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop high-performance subsea connector solutions
* Produce 3D CAD models and detailed 2D engineering drawings
* Perform mechanical calculations and FEA analysis
* Support pressure-rated and sealed mechanical designs
* Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver robust technical solutions
* Ensure designs meet industry standards and safety requirements
Required Experience
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
* Strong experience using 3D CAD and FEA tools
* Good understanding of mechanical fundamentals and calculations
* Knowledge of sealing technologies and pressure-rated systems
* Familiarity with standards such as API, ISO, ASME, IEC or IEEE
* Location: Cumbria – Barrow-In-Furness Business Park
* Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week
* Rate: Open / dependent on experience
* Start Date: April 2026
