SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Copmanthorpe
Salary: £88 – £110 per day
Contract: Full-Time
Start Date: January 2026
GSL Education are looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a specialist Alternative Provision in Copmanthorpe. The role is suited to someone committed to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning through patience, consistency and care.
About the School
The provision works with learners aged 4–16 who benefit from adapted teaching, therapeutic support and stable routines. Staff prioritise emotional wellbeing, self-confidence and relationship building.
SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities
• Provide SEN and SEMH support across lessons and activities
• Support individual learning pathways
• Help develop communication, independence and resilience
• Work with teachers, pastoral teams and external agencies
Requirements
• Experience supporting vulnerable young people
• Ability to support challenging behaviour confidently and safely
• Strong listening skills and emotional awareness
• Understanding of SEND, SEMH needs and trauma-informed practice
• A positive, nurturing attitude and reliable work ethic
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing needs
• Enhanced DBS required or willingness to apply
