Junior Clinical Fellow in Vascular Surgery

The Vascular Surgery Department are pleased to announce that there are a number of 12 month Junior Clinical Fellow (JCF) posts available with a commencement date of 5th August 2026. MBBS or is essential and MRCS is highly desirable. The posts do not award a National Training Number. As these posts are not recognised as 'training posts', full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of these posts are equivalent to Core ST1-ST2 Level.
Main duties of the job
This is an opportunity to join a busy vascular centre in one of the largest teaching hospitals in the UK. Sheffield Vascular Institute is a tertiary referral centre for the management of complex vascular disease. Successful candidates will have extensive exposure to vascular interventions. This position is suitable for individuals considering a career in surgery or preparing to join the core surgical training scheme.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered with the GMC with a licence to practise
* Basic Medical Degree MBChB or equivalent
* NHS Experience (excluding clinical attachments / observerships)
* MRCS
Clinical Experience
* Completion of foundation training (F1 and F2) or equivalent
* Clinical Judgement: experience in making clinical decisions, knows when to seek help and able to prioritise need
* Competence in the basic operative and non-operative management of surgical patients
Continuous Professional Development
* Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months
* Able to organise oneself and prioritise own workload. Punctual, flexible and demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development
* Demonstrate a commitment to the standards outlined in the GMC Good Medical Practice
* Maintenance of a CPD diary or portfolio
* ISCP competence identified within Vascular surgery curriculum
* Satisfactorily completion ATLS/CCRiSP/ Basic Surgery Skills course
Management and Administration
* Able to work productively in an MDT environment and values the input of other professionals in the team
Research
* Publications in Peer reviewed journals.
* Ability to assess published clinical research and incorporate it into practice
