Job Description
Role: Senior Officer (Child Protection)
Location: GCHSCP, Ladywell Business Centre, 94 Duke Street, Glasgow, G4 0UW
Contract Status: Temporary up to 31st March 2026
Are you interested in working for the largest local authority in Scotland, in partnership with the NHS, to help improve the health and wellbeing of our community? Then, you are in the right place!
At Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP), the Child Protection team covers the whole city. We collaborate with localities and partner agencies to develop and deliver best practices within the child protection framework, including training, evaluation, and audit priorities.
This Senior Officer role is a pilot for Devolved Decision Making (DDM). As a Senior Officer, you will:
• Work as part of the child protection team.
• Support the delivery of the devolved decision-making pilot within Glasgow City Council. This is a Home Office funded initiative to identify victims of trafficking and exploitation through the National Referral Mechanism (NRM).
• Collaborate with partner agencies and existing Senior Officers.
Applicants must possess a Degree/Diploma in Social Work (or equivalent). Please refer to the Person Specification for detailed qualifications, skills, knowledge, and competencies required for this role.
Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential upon appointment. Successful candidates will be responsible for their PVG membership fees.
Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is mandatory. Candidates must be registered or have applied within 3 months and complete registration within 6 months of starting. Currently, local authority staff are not required to pay SSSC fees due to the local government pay deal.
These roles are exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
Interviews are expected to be held during the week commencing 19 May 2025.
