Housing & Public Protection Business Improvement Manager Berkshire | Hybrid Working (1 day in office, 4 days from home) £40 per hour Umbrella 3–6 Month Interim Assignment We are currently partnering with a progressive and community-focused local authority seeking an experienced Housing & Public Protection Business Improvement Manager to join their senior management team on an interim basis. This is a key leadership role within a service undergoing transformation and improvement, offering the opportunity to make a real impact across housing and public protection services. The organisation is committed to innovation, collaboration, and delivering high-quality services to residents, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and modernisation. The successful candidate will lead the Housing & Public Protection business support function, overseeing analysts and complaints/review teams whilst driving service delivery improvements, transformation projects, and operational efficiencies across the directorate. Key responsibilities will include: • Leading and managing the Housing & Public Protection business support function • Managing teams responsible for performance, complaints, reviews and business support • Driving transformation, digitisation and ICT improvement projects • Supporting service improvement initiatives and operational development • Overseeing responses to complaints, statutory reviews, FOIs and appeals • Developing policies, procedures and performance monitoring frameworks • Supporting senior leadership and deputising for the Assistant Director where required • Managing budgets, contracts and overall service performance The ideal candidate will have: • Strong local authority experience • A background within housing, public protection, environmental health, licensing or regulatory services • Proven experience managing teams and delivering high-performing services • Experience leading transformation, business improvement or change projects • Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills • Knowledge of housing legislation, governance and complaints processes This role offers hybrid working with an expectation to be onsite 1–2 days per week to support teams and attend key meetings.
