Operations Manager – Residential Care Services
Location: Derby (Residential Care Services) Salary up to £42,500. Full-time, Permanent. Working hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm.
Role Overview
We are recruiting for an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day‑to‑day operational management of residential care services. The role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth running of multiple homes through effective staff coordination, financial oversight, facilities management, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
* Provide operational oversight to ensure residential services run efficiently and safely.
* Support Registered Managers with staffing coordination, operational processes, and administrative systems.
* Oversee recruitment processes, including advertising roles, coordinating interviews, and onboarding new staff.
* Ensure safer recruitment standards are maintained, including DBS checks, references, and pre‑employment requirements.
* Maintain accurate staff records including qualifications, training, and compliance documentation.
* Monitor staff attendance, absence tracking, and performance records.
* Support disciplinary processes and maintain appropriate HR documentation.
* Coordinate and track mandatory staff training.
* Assist with preparing and monitoring budgets and operational expenditure.
* Identify opportunities for cost control and improved financial efficiency.
* Oversee facilities management, including maintenance coordination, compliance certifications, and property upkeep.
* Ensure company vehicles are serviced and maintained.
* Maintain secure and compliant records in line with GDPR and regulatory requirements.
* Support operational reporting, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Assist with resident admissions and discharge documentation processes.
* Support internal communication and collaboration across operational teams.
Qualifications
* Experience in operations management, ideally within residential care, healthcare, or another regulated sector.
* Strong administrative, organisational, and HR coordination skills.
* Experience managing recruitment processes, compliance records, and staff documentation.
* Good understanding of financial processes including budgeting and expenditure monitoring.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding, GDPR, and regulatory frameworks.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database systems.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
* Ability to work independently while supporting multiple services.
* A proactive approach to problem solving and operational improvement.
