Locum Bio-Medical Scientist Band 6
Haematology lab and/or Blood Transfusion Lab
Craigavon Area Hospital and Daisy Hill Hospital.
Candidate must be able to travel to both sites.
Temporary (Contract 3 months initially)
£19.78 per hour
Initial core hours for training, moving to 24/7 shift rotation including nights and weekends
Main Purpose
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality diagnostic laboratory services to support patient care.
This role involves working as part of a team and as a lone worker (during out of hours).

Essential Qualifications & Compliance
HCPC Registration: Current and valid as a Biomedical Scientist.
Specialist Qualification: Must hold the IBMS Specialist Diploma (Haematology with Hospital Transfusion Practice) or the BBTS Specialist Certificate. Candidates without a completed specialist portfolio or BBTS certification will not be considered for this Band 6 role.
UKTLC Compliance: The candidate must be able to demonstrate recent evidence of competency in a UK Transfusion environment to meet safety standards for lone-working/shift participation.
Technical Requirements
Haematology: Extensive experience with Sysmex XN-series analysers and track systems & Proficiency in film reading is Highly Desirable.
Coagulation: Extensive experience with ACL TOP analysers is Highly Desirable.
Transfusion: Full competency on Bio-Rad automation IH-500 or IH-1000 and manual gel card techniques (DiaMed).
LIMS: Proficiency in WinPath is preferred.
