Senior Developer / Engineer / Analyst
We’re working with a large, well-established UK organisation in the Higher Education sector to recruit a Senior Developer / Analyst to play a key role in the development, enhancement and operational support of their core Virtual Learning Environment.
This is a hands-on technical role focused primarily on Moodle, with responsibility for integrations, performance, stability and continuous improvement of the platform and associated digital learning systems.
The Role
You will:
* Lead the development, configuration and optimisation of a large-scale Moodle VLE
* Develop plugins, integrations and enhancements to improve user experience and functionality
* Support and troubleshoot complex issues, implementing clean, scalable fixes
* Design and maintain REST-based integrations with internal and third-party systems
* Contribute to CI/CD, version control and modern development best practices
* Work closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to deliver robust, secure solutions
* Provide technical guidance within projects and contribute to service improvement initiatives
This role combines project delivery, system enhancement and 3rd-line support within a collaborative but highly autonomous environment. xsngvjr
Key Experience (not all essential)
* Strong commercial experience developing and supporting Moodle
* Moodle plugin development and platform customisation
* Solid PHP development skills (front-end skills such as JavaScript/CSS beneficial)
* Experience with REST APIs and system integrations
* Linux environments and version control best practice
* Experience working in structured delivery environments (Agile, CI/CD etc.)
Experience within Higher Education or large, complex organisations would be advantageous but is not essential.
