Overview

Advert Practice Educator- NHS Grampian Mental health and Learning Disability Practice Education and Development Team. 37 hours - Band 7: 1 Post. Base to be - Royal Cornhill Hospital (MH/LD Post).

A fantastic opportunity has arisen within the Mental Health and Learning Disability (MHLD) Practice Education and Development Team for a Band 7 Practice Educator (PE) to cover the Mental Health/Learning Disability Portfolio. The post is hosted within the Mental Health and Learning Disability Service of NHSG. The MHLD Practice Education and Development team covers the Health and Social Care Partnerships areas of Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray. The post holder would be responsible for providing practice education support to all mental health and learning disability teams within the partnerships areas. The post holder will also have close links to Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen University and the North of Scotland Colleges.

The PE role will provide support to students, learners and staff within the portfolio. The post requires the development and maintenance of a learning environment where both education and lifelong learning are seen as integral to practice. The role aims to enhance the quality of the practice learning experience, and positively contribute to the future nursing workforce in line with local and national directives.

The successful post-holder will be a 1 level registered mental health or learning disability nurse with experience at Band 6. Significant knowledge and experience within mental health and learning disability nursing, including supervising undergraduate nurses is required for this post, as well as evidence of leadership skills and supporting others in practice. Candidates should have great communication skills, excellent care values, and a strong sense of team spirit, alongside a sense of humour. An enthusiasm to work, learn and develop self and colleagues within the exciting and challenging high pressure environment of mental health and learning disability nursing is required. You will be dynamic and forward thinking in your approach and focused on providing safe, efficient and person centred care.

A proven interest in training, education and professional development for all staff is essential, as well as the ability to have courageous conversations and demonstrate influencing skills.

The successful candidate should be educated to degree level or equivalent and hold a nationally recognised teaching qualification. Further development would be supported within the role, as is the opportunity to present at National Conferences, raising the profile of NHS Grampian as a learning environment.

Travel across Grampian will be required, therefore, the successful candidate should have a valid UK driving licence and be a car owner.
