Prospero Teaching is looking for a resilient and energetic Teaching Assistant to support students in an SEMH Alternative Provision in Huddersfield.
The school is for students in Key Stage 2 and 3, many of whom have found it difficult to be successful in a mainstream school and some with an Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The school is a provision for a range of needs, including autistic spectrum disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, speech and language difficulties and severe social, emotional and mental health difficulties, for example, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD),
Class sizes are small with a teaching assistant to support each class. The school differentiates the curriculum to ensure all pupils can access it, for example, by grouping, 1:1 work, teaching style, content of the lesson. For KS2 or KS3 pupils on a short-term placement, the school also have a Nurture provision.
Located in Huddersfield the school is easily accessed by public transport with bus stops nearby. The school has onsite parking available.
The position is open to all experienced and those who have a strong background in youth work or have any other experience of mentoring children and young adults. Depending on performance, the school would look at either extending the contract or offering a permanent position.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
11. Previous experience in a similar setting / SEMH/ PRU
12. LEVEL 2 Teaching Assistant/or equivalent and above is preferable
13. GCSE Maths and English and Computer literate
14. Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year
15. Team Teach qualified (or signed up to attend the with our agency)
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
16. Hold Right to Work in the UK
17. Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
18. Provide two professional child related references that cover at least the last two years
