Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced
Rig Test Engineer
to join their growing motorsport engineering team. This hands-on role involves designing, developing, and operating test rigs and fixtures, while collaborating with engineers, designers, and mechanics to enhance vehicle performance, reliability, and compliance. You will play a key role in validating new components and technologies before they hit the track.
Role Responsibilities:
* Develop, organise, and implement test plans for motorsport vehicles and sub-systems
* Configure and operate test rigs, including dynamometers, suspension rigs, and component benches
* Conduct both on-track and laboratory tests to evaluate vehicle performance, durability, and safety
* Use data acquisition systems (e.g. ATLAS, System Monitor) to analyse and interpret results
* Work with simulation teams to validate test data and compare against theoretical models
* Support the development and optimisation of new components and technologies
* Collaborate closely with designers, race engineers, mechanics, and external suppliers
* Act as a key link between project technical leads and the software team for powertrain dyno testing
* Produce clear, detailed technical reports with recommendations for performance and reliability improvements
* Ensure compliance with motorsport regulations and safety standards
Technical Skills Required:
* Hands-on experience with test rigs, dynamometers, suspension rigs, and telemetry systems
* Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, ATLAS, or similar data analysis tools
* Strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, and powertrain performance
* Familiarity with automated testing systems and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations
* Understanding of control systems, software integration, and sensor technologies
Qualifications & Experience:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Motorsport Engineering (or related field)
* Previous experience in motorsport engineering, high-performance automotive testing, or rig/dyno development
* Knowledge of motorsport regulations and homologation processes
* Exposure to hybrid or electric vehicle technologies in motorsport (desirable)
* Experience within professional motorsport categories (F1, WEC, WRC, MotoGP, or similar) is highly desirable

* Confident communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally
* Adaptable and proactive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

* Organised and methodical approach to testing and reporting
Work Environment & Travel:
