Overview
Successful candidates will be offered a full-time education programme in partnership with the University of Sheffield. This post is funded at NHS Band 4 with guaranteed employment on completion of training and attainment of EMHP qualification, with a starting salary projected at NHS Band 5. The training starts February 2026, lasts 12 months, and combines academic and supervised practice learning across educational settings in Rotherham. Delivery includes taught days at the university, self-guided study days, and field experience in educational settings and mental health services.
The candidate will deliver evidence-based intervention for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems in education settings, support staff to identify and manage mental health and wellbeing issues, and work within educational environments to improve access to specialist mental health services. Responsibilities include 1:1 interventions, group work, and whole school interventions.
The role includes attendance at a separate interview with the University of Sheffield. The organisation reserves the right to close the vacancy early if there are a high number of applications.

Role Details & Training
As part of Wave 14 expansion, we seek individuals passionate about early intervention to train as Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP) to work across education settings in Rotherham. The EMHP role delivers evidence-based early interventions for children and young people in educational settings, including 1:1 work, group work, and whole school interventions. This is a Band 4 post; upon successful course completion, candidates will be employed by RDaSH as a Band 5 EMHP. The Rotherham MHST was part of the trailblazer for Mental Health Support Teams and is expanding into further settings. These posts sit within Wave 14, commencing January 2026. In the training year, staff work full-time, 9–5, spending three days a week in MHST and two days per week at the University of Sheffield. Candidates must be available to start in January.
