HCB Widdows Mason is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Legal Assistant to join our Education Law team. This position is perfect for individuals who are interested in supporting clients with educational rights and legal matters, including special educational needs (SEN) and school admissions. We provide thorough training to equip the right candidate with the necessary skills.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
* Assisting clients with inquiries related to education law and navigating the legal system.
* Keeping clients updated on their cases and monitoring case progress.
* Opening and closing files, ensuring compliance with legal standards and firm policies.
* Conducting legal research on relevant education laws and policies.
* Drafting letters, legal documents, and reports to support clients' cases.
* Supporting solicitors in preparing documentation for hearings and school meetings.
* Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in our case management systems.
* Performing general administrative duties, including scheduling appointments and managing calendars.
* Providing occasional reception cover as required.
Requirements
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* A high level of discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
* Attention to detail and accuracy in drafting documents.
* Prior experience in education law or a legal environment is beneficial but not essential.
