A look into the role...



To support our continued growth, our innovative Logistics team within Henderson Wholesale are adding this newly created and hugely rewarding Group Logistics Supply Chain Manager position to the team.



Based at our main site in Mallusk, this highly exciting role will award the successful applicant with an opportunity to develop their career in Logistics/ Supply Chain management within one of the country’s largest home-grown employers.



Reporting directly to our Senior Logistics Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with Outbound Logistics Managers, Trading and Supply Chain teams along with external supply networks locally, nationally and internationally to optimise distribution performance and drive revenue growth.



The Group Logistics Supply Chain Manager will lead initiatives to improve outbound logistics efficiency, enhance customer service levels, reduce delivery costs, and unlock new revenue opportunities through improved capacity utilisation, value-added services, and strategic commercial partnerships.



This role will be very well suited to a candidate with an excellent understanding of end-to-end supply chain and logistics operations, and a proven ability to successfully manage budgets, KPIs and Operational Service Level Agreements.





 

Working as Group Logistics Supply Chain Manager you will:



* Identify, develop, and deliver new revenue opportunities within logistics, warehousing, and supply chain operations, using data and cost-to-serve analysis to drive informed commercial decisions.

* Improve fleet efficiency, route density and backhaul utilisation to increase revenue opportunities.

* Develop commercial pricing models for supply chain services.

* Align with the logistics operations business growth, customer needs and commercial priorities.

* Identify opportunities to generate revenue through paid warehouse storage, excess stock holding, strategic supplier partnerships, and long-term warehouse capacity agreements.

* Optimise use of chilled, ambient, and frozen warehouse space to support revenue and operational efficiency.

* Collaborate with supply chain, buying, and trading teams to offer storage solutions to suppliers during peak periods or promotional cycles.

* Work closely with Supply Chain Team, Warehouse, Transport Planning Managers to understand operational capabilities and constraints, supporting supply chain teams in designing operational changes that unlock revenue potential.

* Work closely with Spar working groups to share knowledge and continually improve Supply Chain operations.

* Explore opportunities for 3PLstyle shared warehouse services where viable and manage relationships with all third-party logistics (3PL) providers supporting Henderson Wholesale and Foodservice operations.

* Evaluate 3PL performance and identify opportunities to optimise revenue using 3PL assets, shared user operations, or collaborative distribution models.

* Lead tenders, negotiations, and service agreement reviews with 3PLs, ensuring that 3PL services align to Henderson commercial priorities and retailer service expectations.

* Work alongside various departmental managers to ensure cost budgets and targets, as well as inbound and outbound customer requirements, are met.

* Report against key performance indicators to measure operational efficiency and effectiveness, providing regular updates to all relevant parties.







Skills for Success

 

Joining us as Group Logistics Supply Chain Manager, the minimum criteria you’ll need is:



* Experience of working successfully within fast-paced logistics environment.

* Proven experience of managing budgets KPIs and Operational SLAs within a logistics/ supply chain environment.

* Good standard of education (including GCSE Maths & English at grade C or above or equivalent).

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Full and valid driving licence.

* A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.





The Skills you’ll need include:



* Strong communication and influencing skills, able to negotiate effectively.

* Excellent understanding of end-to-end supply chain and logistics operations

* A high level of commercial acumen, with the ability to identify and build revenue opportunities.

* Highly analytical, able to develop insights and make data driven decisions.

* String leadership skills, with the ability to deliver change in fast paced, high-volume environment.



It is desirable if you have:



* A relevant further or higher-level qualification in Logistics/ Supply Chain Management.

* Previous experience within the FMCG Industry.

This is a full-time position working 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
