Role: TECHNICIAN – FALL ARREST
Location: Kettering, UK Salary: Up to £25,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hrs per week
Our client has an opportunity for a full-time Technician to work in their Safety Product Testing department.
About The Department
The company's Safety Product Testing team conducts testing on a wide range of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for a global customer base, to ensure products meet a minimum level of protection. PPE tested includes gloves, fall protection, motorcycle garments, high visibility clothing, eyewear, helmets, hearing protection, chainsaw garments, kneepads, sports protection, plus many more. The department consists of a number of accredited laboratories, housing a range of test equipment and machines, used by the team to test the physical properties of PPE against International and European standards. Results from testing are reported to customers and used for their product development or to apply for CE or UKCA certification. The Safety Product Testing team consists of around 25 multiskilled technicians, technologists, and other support staff, arranging and conducting the testing of PPE.
About The Role
This Technician vacancy is predominantly for the Fall Protection PPE area and will involve testing of items such as harnesses, lanyards, energy absorbers, connectors, and rescue equipment. Testing is carried out throughout the year both indoors and outdoors, some testing is carried out at height (up to 8m from ground level).
As a Technician within the Safety Products Testing team, you will be required to carry out the following tasks:
* Use test equipment and machines to generate results.
* Record and calculate test results, both electronically and on paper for use in reports.
* Prepare test samples prior to testing.
* Read, learn, and understand international standards for testing PPE.
* Maintain tidiness of laboratory and maintain sample storage.
* You may also be required to assist technologists in customer visits to SATRA during visits and seminars.
Full training will be provided for all aspects of the role where required.
Essential - About You
* You will possess GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Mathematics, and Science with minimum grade C.
* You must be highly organized, enthusiastic, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
* You should be competent in the use of Microsoft Office products, particularly MS Excel and MS Word.
* Be able to accurately follow testing procedures and methods.
* You will need to demonstrate excellent time management skills and possess a flexible approach to working, being able to respond to changing deadlines and priorities.
* You will need a keen eye for detail and be methodical when making electronic entries onto systems and when completing paperwork.
Desirable
* Experience of working at height / using fall protection PPE.
* Experience of industrial roofing.
* Experience of using a forklift truck.
* Experience of working with Standards.
