Overview
The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Head of IT Operations to lead the IT infrastructure across the Trust, including desktop, server rooms and network devices, ensuring IT hardware and software deliver effective support for all Trust goals and staff. The role supports the CDIO and Executive Director of Finance and provides IT advice to Trust projects and initiatives. It involves line management of the IT Team, managing internal IT projects, and budget responsibility (both pay and non-pay).
Main responsibilities
* Drive the implementation of the IM&T Strategy and map the strategic direction for IM&T, including achieving implementation of clinical and non-clinical systems.
* Support management of operational IT Support Services and strive for industry best practice in IT support and maintenance; support new developments and system implementations aligned to the IM&T Strategy.
* Shape and influence Small Systems Development within the Trust to meet ongoing clinical directorate demands within the IM&T framework.
* Foster and support partnership arrangements with neighbouring Trusts; work with Trust colleagues to integrate telephony with data networks; support the NHS goal of a paperless environment and Net Zero plans; promote the external reputation of the Trust as the IT ambassador.

Requirements
Essential qualifications and training:
* Educated to Masters Level (or equivalent)
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Masters qualification in relevant discipline or equivalent experience
Desirable qualifications:
* PRINCE II or MSP qualification or equivalent
* ITIL or similar qualification
* Microsoft MCSE
* Cisco CCNA
* Organisational development or change management qualification
* IT, Information or Statistical qualification
Experience
Essential:
* Significant experience managing complex IM&T programmes in healthcare from business case to implementation and steady state support
* Proven track record of leading IT teams
* Experience presenting information in reports and presentations
* Negotiation and contract management experience
* Experience in performance and staff management
* Experience of organisational change, working with clinicians
Desirable:
* Procurement experience
* Programme or project management experience
* Process mapping or service redesign
* ITIL-based service management experience
* Data warehouse reporting in healthcare
* Electronic document management and electronic patient record systems
Skills and knowledge

* Excellent information management skills and stakeholder requirements understanding
* Technical IT service expertise including security, with advanced IT skills
