Overview
As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems, to build a greater understanding of the Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety.
Responsibilities
* Provide Memex training to area teams and promote the use and benefits of Memex; improve the quality of intelligence submitted.
* Provide face-to-face training on our Intelligence system MEMEX.
* Provide support and training to enable area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
* Supervise intelligence logs to ensure high standard of quality in submissions.
* Create entities from Memex submissions.
* Provide regular reports on performance and feedback on ways to improve performance.
* Ensure high standards of quality of intelligence submissions.
* Other duties commensurate with the role.

* Respond to incidents as a central part of the role; you will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract additional payment and full training; alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The team
The Intelligence Team manages and develops all criminal intelligence for the Environment Agency. Made up of several roles and disciplines, we build and maintain strong relationships with our partners to work as one enforcement community and drive our intelligence-led approach to tackling environmental crime across many regimes. The team provides a professional and timely service and is focused on continuously improving how we do things to ensure our outcomes meet our customers’ needs.
Experience/skills Required
* We are looking for self-motivated and proactive applicants who can demonstrate the following:
* A good understanding of Intelligence and Intelligence systems
* An ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach and embed across teams
* Excellent influencing skills, ensuring Memex use is the norm and safety checks are mandatory
* Success in building strong, effective relationships
* Ability to create and deliver engaging, effective and inclusive training
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to give feedback on ways to improve intelligence submission performance
* Strong self-management and organisational skills
* Great teamwork to support colleagues achieve common goals

* You will need to be comfortable with working in a dispersed team. Location is flexible and we are happy to support smarter ways of working through a mixture of home and office working; travel to Birmingham and other offices where staff are based will be required on occasions.
* Interviews will be via Microsoft Teams and are expected to be in October.
