Job description:
As Digital Marketing Director, you will lead a team of 5 across SEO, PPC and Data, currently called the Performance Department. Overseeing the creation and delivery of cutting-edge digital marketing campaigns for our legal sector clients. You will be responsible for delivering a best in class service for your department. You will also be tasked with the strategic direction, growth, staff development and success of the department. This will be a client facing role requiring a track record in strong presentation and communication skills to sell-in strategy and campaigns to clients.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the Performance Department (name can change), fostering a culture of data driven high performance, continuous improvement, and efficient collaboration.
* Overseeing the planning, implementation, and optimisation of paid search (PPC) and organic search (SEO) campaigns to drive website traffic, leads, and conversions.
* Establishing and reporting on digital marketing and business development KPIs and metrics to track digital performance, analyse campaign effectiveness and optimise return on investment – instilling a true data-driven culture.
* Develop and implement strategic campaign proposals based on insights and findings from data analysis and benchmarking processes.
* Responsible for professional development, training, and performance management of your team.
* Drive the growth of the department through innovative strategies, efficient workflow systems, and effective resource management.
* Create and maintain robust internal reporting systems to track departmental performance and inform decision-making.
* Present strategic high-level campaign results to clients and internal stakeholders as required.
* Staying abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in PPC, SEO and wider digital marketing (including leveraging AI) & data analytics – and proactively sharing actionable insights.
Reporting and collaboration:
* Report to the Managing Director, providing regular updates on departmental performance, challenges, and opportunities.
* Collaborate closely with Client Services and Project Director to ensure seamless communication and campaign execution on time and budget.
* Collaborate with other departments to ensure the continued development of MLT.
Skills and experience required:
* 10+ years’ experience in cross channel digital marketing, paid and organic search, digital advertising, data analytics.
* 3+ years experience of managing, developing and mentoring a team of digital marketing professionals including PDR systems.
* Strong knowledge of paid and organic search best practices, web development technologies and content management systems.
* Proficiency in web analytics, data visualisation tools and search marketing platforms.
* A history of digital marketing success in a B2C / B2B professional services environment with track record of results.
* A well-established working knowledge of marketing fundamentals and a professional marketing, business or related qualification at degree or postgraduate level.
* An advanced degree or professional certification in digital marketing and/or data analytics would be an advantage.
* Proven track record, with results of developing and implementing successful digital strategies that drive website traffic, leads, and conversions.
* A passion for data and experience in proactively acquiring and analysing data from many sources and making actionable recommendations and affecting change.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data and insights in a clear and actionable manner to clients and stakeholders at all levels.
* Experience in web analytics and data visualisation tools such a Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Looker Studio.
* A strategic mindset, with the ability to think analytically, anticipate market trends, and develop data-driven solutions to achieve business objectives.
* A team player mentality with a proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues, cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
* An entrepreneurial spirit and a self-starter mindset – with a strong desire to explore new and creative digital tactics and tools that deliver results, including leveraging AI technologies.
