SEN Teacher (Secondary) – Full Time

Location: Sunderland
Contract: Full-time, permanent (term-time)
Start date: As soon as possible

About the role
We are recruiting an SEN Teacher for a specialist secondary provision catering to young people aged 11-19 with autism spectrum condition (ASC), severe learning difficulties (SLD) and communication & interaction needs. If you are an enthusiastic educator looking to deliver high-quality, personalised teaching in a supportive environment, this is for you.

Key duties

1. Lead teaching and learning for groups and individual pupils with complex needs.

2. Design adaptive curriculum pathways that promote independence, wellbeing and academic progress.

3. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including therapists, behaviour support staff and families.

4. Embed strength-based approaches, positive behaviour strategies and inclusive practices.

5. Track, evaluate and report on pupil progress, contributing to their longer-term preparation for adulthood.

What we’re seeking

6. QTS or QTLS.

7. Experience working in a specialist or SEND secondary setting is highly desired.

8. Strong leadership, communication and relational skills.

9. Creative, flexible and reflective teacher who thrives in a collaborative environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
