Graduate Conservation Surveyor - Janus Conservation
Start: Summer 2026
Type: Full-time
Salary: Competitive + full professional support
Janus Conservation is growing, and we’re looking for a Graduate Conservation Surveyor to join our team.
This is a rare opportunity to enter the heritage sector through a genuinely multidisciplinary route. You’ll work across building surveying, heritage consultancy, and project delivery - gaining experience in every part of the conservation process, not just one silo.
We’re a small, agile practice working on listed and historic buildings, from major repair projects to detailed condition surveys and heritage advice. You’ll be supported throughout a structured training pathway designed to accelerate your development.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll rotate across all three core areas of the practice, developing into a well-rounded conservation professional:
* Building Surveys: assisting with measured surveys, reports, defect diagnosis, conservation-led recommendations
* Heritage Consultancy: supporting heritage statements, impact assessments, planning and LBC submissions
* Project Delivery: assisting with specifications, contract administration, site inspections, and project coordination
You’ll work directly under our delivery leads, gaining hands‑on experience and learning how conservation decisions are made in practice.
What we’re looking for
* A RICS-accredited degree or a RICS- and IHBC-accredited degree
* A full UK driving licence and access to a car
* A genuine interest in historic buildings and how they’re repaired, managed, and protected
* Strong written communication skills
* Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to get involved
* Someone who enjoys problem‑solving and wants to grow quickly
What we offer
* Entry onto the Janus Conservation Graduate Training Scheme, supporting you towards both RICS and IHBC qualification
* A structured development plan with clear milestones
* Weekly mentoring and direct support from senior conservation professionals
* Hands‑on project, survey, and heritage experience from day one
* A friendly, highly supportive environment
* The opportunity to work on some of the most important listed buildings in the country
* A clear, long‑term career pathway within a growing practice
