The Pharmacy Department has an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, highly motivated Pharmacist to join the team. As a key member of the Oncology and Aseptic teams you will work directly alongside Consultants, Specialist Nurses, Non-Medical Prescribers, Pharmacy staff and with the wider Healthcare team. You will work remotely for this role.

The ideal candidate will have experience in Aseptics Services, delivering Specialist Pharmacy Services to Oncology and Haematology patients and have experience with Electronic Medication Prescribing and Administration systems for cancer services (e.g. Mosaiq). You will be committed to the provision of highly specialist professional, clinical and scientific information and advice to Multidisciplinary Healthcare staff, patients and carers by using excellent communication skills. The role requires strong prioritisation and time management skills to enable you to work efficiently and effectively as part of the wider healthcare team. You will have the highest level of commitment to patient safety and be dedicated to delivering outstanding medicines management.

The Oncology and Aseptic Pharmacy team comprises Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Assistant Technical Officers. You will be a highly valued member of this team and the wider Pharmacy team as well as the Trust Oncology Multidisciplinary team.

REMOTE WORKING


Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities include:

* Supporting the Oncology and Haematology Pharmacy Services providing specialist advice for patients receiving Systemic Anti Cancer Treatments (SACT)
* To actively assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures, quality systems, internal audits and improvements within the Aseptic unit.
* To work closely with the Quality Management System to make improvements to the aseptic service, including completing and implementing audits, change controls, RCAs, reviewing and writing SOPs and trust guidelines
* Working remotely to carry out all aspects of the role, there will be an initial induction period which will require site attendance to be meet the team and gain access to relevant systems and equipment

You will be a non-medical independent prescriber or working towards this qualification.

Education, Qualifications & Training


Essential criteria

* Completion of a Master’s degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent)
* Full registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council GB or Northern Ireland (GPhC)
* Demonstrable evidence of competence at foundation level practice including medicine and surgery
* Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or satisfactory evidence of equivalent competence as demonstrated within a practice portfolio
* Demonstrates the ability to deliver a clinical pharmacy service
* Awareness of models of non-doctor prescribing
* Meets expected levels of practice as defined by others
* Demonstrates a broad knowledge of pharmacy practice
* A minimum of two years post-registration experience in pharmacy


Desirable criteria

* Demonstrable evidence of competence at foundation level practice in a further clinical area
* Qualified as an independent non-medical prescriber
* Identifies areas where non-doctor prescribing may be applicable to specialist practice
* Identifies areas for practice improvements
* Good Clinical Practice Certificate – clinical trials
* Current Basic Life Support training

* Experience of working in a hospital pharmacy setting
