Are you looking for an exciting challenge, where you will be able to make it your own and see the rewards of the effort you put in? A food manufacturer based in London who is going through a period of huge growth is looking for an experienced Chief Engineer to join them. Although profitable & successful, there is a lack of structure across the Engineering function from coaching to the systems & processes across the business. You will be joining with a blank canvas and the opportunity to implement standards from scratch. As Head of Engineering, you will be to work closely with the likes of the Operations Director, Project Director, Maintenance Manager, Technical Manager etc. You will be looking at the Engineering structure from a strategic point of view to improve and develop processes. There is the requirement of a new CMMS system to be rolled out across the business and this will need assessing/managing closely to reduce downtime. You will also be working with the site Maintenance Manager to ensure that the daily factory performance is adhered to, also you’d be playing an integral part in driving cultural change and understanding where coaching can be utilised. As with any change within a large organisation, you will stumble across challenges, therefore you will need to be able to think on your feet. You will need to present to senior members across the board for any future plans, don’t worry, they are not afraid to put their hand in their pocket. The most key area I would say that you will need to appreciate is that this is not an overnight process, there will need to be a level of persistence/patience. So, if you have a can-do attitude, then this role is for you. As mentioned above, despite the challenges you’ll have the full backing of the owners and the senior leadership team, ultimately making your life easier. As well as this you will be working within a leadership team, that is all determined to take the business to the next level. Your role is key in delivering such significant change across the culture and the Engineering function will only set you in good stead moving forward. There is significant investment across the Engineering department signed off and your involvement in these projects will be key to their success. Because of the complexity and regulations surrounding their products, your experience of manufacturing is essential. Your experience of managing Engineering teams whether that is a single site or multiple sits will put you in good stead too. Keen to find out more? Get in touch –Wayne Hobbs today
