Pharmacy Assistant – Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Location: Base site Pharmacy - Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester. With possible working at other HHFT sites depending on requirements.

Role Description:

We are looking to recruit a Pharmacy Assistant to work in our busy but friendly team based in pharmacy. The role involves performing ward top ups, goods in, order picking and receiving medical gases. This position is vital to maintain the care of our patients and has close working relationships with the trust’s ward staff and pharmacy colleagues based at our other sites.

You must be willing to work hard, be able to manage your own work load as well as meeting the needs of our service users.

We will consider recruiting the right candidate as a band 2 to band 3 progressional post if you do not have all the essential criteria listed in the job description.

Working patterns: Full time with flexible working pattern depending on minimum number of hours per week.

Person specification

Training & Qualification

Essential criteria

1. GCSE in Maths and English at grade C or above ( or equivalent qualification)
2. Willing to work towards completion of NVQ 2 or equivalent, within 1 year of starting in post
3. Numeracy and literacy to a good standard

Desirable criteria

4. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Pharmacy Service Skills

Experiance and Knowledge

Essential criteria

5. Previous customer service experience, including Speaking on the phone and face to face
6. Experience of using computers, particularly Microsoft Office and web-based learning
7. Experience of general office duties

Desirable criteria

8. Previous Pharmacy experience
9. Previous experience with WellSky or equivalent computer system
10. Previous knowledge of stock control

Skills and Ability

Essential criteria

11. Good Communication skills both verbal and written
12. Ability to prioritise work and manage time efficiently
13. Has good attention to detail and is accurate
14. Ability to work as part of a team and as an individual
15. Ability to follow set procedures
16. Ability to concentrate in a busy environment

Desirable criteria

17. Understanding stock control and stock rotation

Essential criteria

18. Good general health, walking/pushing trolleys/lifting heavy items
19. Responsible and puntual
20. Ability to work weekends and bank holidays as part of a rota
21. Late working as part of a rota
22. Ability to work on both hospital sites (RHCH & BNHH)
