Freelance Geotechnical Laboratory Technician Location: Norfolk (site-based) Contract Length: 6 months Status: Outside IR35 Start: May 2026 Day Rate: Competitive (DOE) Overview We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Laboratory Technician on a freelance, Outside IR35 contract for an initial 6‑month engagement in the Norfolk region. This role supports a busy geotechnical testing programme delivering soil and aggregate testing to UK and international standards. Key Responsibilities Carrying out laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, and construction materials Tests may include classification, compaction, shear strength, permeability, CBR, and chemical testing Accurate logging, recording, and reporting of test results Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring calibration standards are met Adhering to UKAS, BS, and project‑specific quality and safety procedures Supporting site staff and engineers with technical data as required Required Skills & Experience Proven experience working in a geotechnical or materials testing laboratory Strong understanding of BS / Eurocode testing standards Competent in handling laboratory equipment and test procedures Good attention to detail and record‑keeping skills Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively Full UK driving licence preferred Contract Details Outside IR35 6‑month initial term, with potential extension Site‑based role within the Norfolk region Immediate or short‑notice availability preferred How to Apply Please submit your CV highlighting relevant geotechnical laboratory experience and current availability.
