Detailed job description and main responsibilities The post has a draft job plan which best reflects our assessment of what the final plan will be, based on an initial 10 PA contract. Each job plan consists of regular Direct Clinical Care (DCC) sessions in areas of sub-specialty practice, plus flexible DCC sessions which will be scheduled after agreement with the successful candidates. The post holders will contribute to the Consultant Obstetric Anaesthetist on call rota. These duties are subject to review from time to time in the light of the changing requirements of the service. If alterations to the described duties are required these will be mutually agreed between the appointee, his/her Consultant colleagues and the Trust. Any Consultant who is unable, for personal reasons, to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post on a part-time basis; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with Consultant colleagues. Anaesthesia provides a clinical service across both campuses. It is anticipated that the post holder may be reasonably asked to provide clinical sessions on either campus in the future as required by the service. Person specification Registration Essential criteria Full GMC registration with a licence to practice Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register: CCT holder or expected within 6 months of interview or CESR holder Qualifications Essential criteria ALS Provider or equivalent. Desirable criteria Higher professional qualification Clinical Skills/Experience Essential criteria Training and experience requisite to meeting all aspects of the job plan, including on call work. Significant post-graduate experience in Anesthesia at a senior level in the NHS. Technical skills/competencies required for all aspects of the job plan. Ability to maintain clinical credibility and authority with a multi-professional team including junior doctors in training.
