Shift Trading Manager Location: GB Department: Trading Team A leading energy trading organisation is seeking a Shift Trading Manager to oversee day-to-day operations of its GB trading desk. This key role ensures that trading activities are executed efficiently, accurately, and in full compliance with regulatory and internal standards. Acting as the on-shift operational lead, the Shift Trading Manager manages workflow, monitors market and technical risk, and serves as the first point of escalation for trading issues. Key Responsibilities Lead daily trading desk operations, ensuring all trades align with strategy, compliance, and risk frameworks. Direct and support the shift team to optimise portfolio dispatch across wholesale and balancing markets. Provide real-time operational leadership, resolving issues and maintaining risk discipline. Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance development of trading team members. Monitor and report on shift performance against KPIs, escalating key risks and opportunities. Maintain close communication with the Trading Manager and senior stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment. Drive continuous improvement in trading processes, tools, and reporting. Skills & Experience Strong understanding of short-term GB power and gas markets, including intraday and day-ahead trading. Experience using trading platforms, position management tools, and operational reporting systems. Proven track record in energy trading with exposure to short-term markets. Experience leading or supervising trading or operational teams. Knowledge of regulatory and risk management frameworks in energy markets. Familiarity with trader recruitment, onboarding, and development. Exposure to automation, algorithmic trading, or BESS optimisation is advantageous.
