Role Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Personal Assistant to support a 15‑year‑old girl in Penzance. She has ADHD and is currently on the neurodevelopmental pathway, with traits associated with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).
Key Responsibilities
* Provide emotional support and help develop confidence, social skills, and personal strategies for managing anxiety.
* Establish safe boundaries and guide her in creating and maintaining personal strategies.
* Offer one‑to‑one support with a gentle, positive, patient approach during recovery from neurodiverse burnout.
* Build a supportive, trusting relationship; may include activities such as football, gaming, swimming, dancing, makeup experiments, TV, or cinema trips if interests align.
Qualifications
* Experience working with young people on the autism spectrum preferred.
* Full driving licence desirable but not essential.
Compensation & Working Hours
Rate of Pay: £13.45 per hour. Travel allowance of 45p per mile for any journeys made while transporting her in your vehicle. Hours: 6 hours per week with flexible scheduling, preferably Wednesday or Friday afternoons or evenings, as well as weekends and school holidays.
Employment Details
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council. All offers of employment will be subject to an enhanced DBS check; the administrative process will be undertaken by Cornwall Council.
