Our client is seeking an experienced project design engineer, preferably with a strong hydraulic background, to join their team.
The company offers solutions including hydraulic system design, manufacturing, installation, service and maintenance, technical support, and parts distribution, working with subcontractors and on-site/workshop technicians.
As a Project Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and management of projects from enquiry to completion. This role requires attention to detail, responsiveness, strong communication, and negotiation skills.
The position is challenging and motivating, ideal for someone aiming to develop their career. The scope may include hydraulic power units, control manifolds & consoles, bespoke hydraulic systems, and pipework.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare technical proposals, specifications, quotations, and review calculations
* Ensure feasibility and provide technical guidance to customers
* Select and size components
* Prepare or review hydraulic schematics, bill of materials, and engineering drawings
* Optimize system performance and cost, resolving problems and improving manufacturability and serviceability
* Project management and planning, checking delivered goods
* Prepare technical specifications for subcontractors and send inquiries
* Procurement following technical, financial, and time requirements
* Approve subcontractors' designs and ensure compliance with customer requirements
* Manage paperwork during projects
* Brief operational teams before manufacturing and support technical operations
* Control work after completion and issue final as-built documents
* Prepare work files prior to job start
* Plan workshop/onsite work and prepare tooling and equipment
* Prepare the Operation and Maintenance Manual
* Provide project KPIs for progress review
* Ensure projects meet financial objectives and deadlines

Candidate Requirements:
* Strong understanding of engineering and design principles
* Creative problem-solving skills
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes and construction methods
* Degree or equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical/control systems
* Proficiency with CAD software (Inventor/SolidWorks, Hydrosym)
* Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
* Full driving license
* Experience in project management, hydraulic commissioning, fault finding, and system design
* Knowledge of ISO and international quality standards (LR, DNV, BV, NORSOK, ATEX)
