Director, Cross Industry Solutions Architecture, Solutions Architect, AGS
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an experienced and motivated technologist leader with a unique balance of technical depth, thought leadership, and strong people management skills. You will partner with customers, AWS Sales, and other AWS teams to craft highly scalable, flexible, and resilient cloud architectures that address customers’ business problems and accelerate the adoption of AWS services. In collaboration with sales, you will drive revenue growth across a broad set of customers. As a trusted customer advocate, you will help organizations understand best practices around advanced cloud-based solutions and how to migrate existing workloads to the cloud. You will have the opportunity to help shape and execute a strategy to build mindshare and broad use of AWS.
The ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record in leading technology consulting and sales organizations. The ability to connect technology with measurable business value is critical. You should also have demonstrated strategic thinking about business, products, and technical challenges.

Key job responsibilities
The Solutions Architecture leader is responsible for:
1. Operating as the Customer Advisor during the sales cycle, acting as an executive sponsor for strategic programs and projects.
2. Driving organizational-wide leadership by providing technical excellence, collaborating with product and service teams, creating customer feedback mechanisms, modeling Amazon culture, attracting and recruiting senior talent, and leading strategic initiatives.
3. People management, including identifying and developing future leaders, championing inclusion, diversity, and equity, and mentoring leaders.
4. Operational management, defining and executing goals and metrics, optimizing cross-functional mechanisms, and managing business rhythms through various reviews and planning sessions.
This role oversees the Cross-Industry SA team in Japan, aligned with the Head of Solutions Architecture Japan, focusing on enterprise customer segments across multiple industry verticals. The role involves engaging with customers throughout their AWS journey, shaping technical strategies based on industry trends, and influencing stakeholders inside AWS and at customer organizations. The scope involves developing leadership, hiring top talent, and managing evolving team dynamics.
Responsibilities also include maintaining strategic relationships with key customer executives such as CEOs, CDOs, CTOs, and CIOs, leveraging global programs and internal stakeholders to advance customer transformation. Change management and expertise transfer are crucial to ensure high standards of customer experience. The role collaborates closely with sales teams to create and execute business plans that accelerate AWS adoption, exceed revenue targets, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Minimum qualifications
* 20 years of IT experience in internet-related technologies.
* 10 years of people management experience, managing managers.
* Experience leading large architect/engineering teams (100+ members).
* Established relationships with enterprise executives.
* Industry experience in leading teams in infrastructure and software technologies.
* Experience developing large-scale application architectures in complex environments.
* Experience with large-scale systems integration involving on-premises and cloud platforms.
* Public speaking experience to large audiences (1,000+ attendees).
* Excellent presentation skills and effective communication across organizations.
* Native Japanese and business English language skills.
Preferred qualifications
* Hands-on experience with AWS services.
* Master's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or an MBA.
* Recognized industry thought leader.
* Management experience in global organizations.
* Ability to deliver complex keynote presentations.
* Proven adaptability to new technologies and industries.
* Certified at professional level in all AWS certifications.
