Fixed Term Role - 12 months
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, technically skilled and caring Therapeutic Radiographer to join our well established Radiotherapy team at University Hospital Dorset – Poole Hospital.
Our radiotherapy service has a wide range of modern, tapeless techniques with a strong commitment to both patient care and staff development, including a well‑developed competency and preceptorship programme to help new staff integrate into the service. The department uses the four‑tier structure for radiographers and you will be working alongside radiographers who have progressed to band 8b.
We offer regular opportunities for educational funding (such as MSc modules) and possible paid attendance at conferences both nationally and internationally (for example, ESTRO).
The department has a fleet of Linacs to Varian TrueBeam, two Philips Big Bore CT scanners, an orthovoltage and brachytherapy service. We have implemented Surface Guided Radiotherapy (SGRT) and Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy, and the department is a reference site for three manufacturers in the field of radiotherapy, often hosting visits to help other departments develop.
Our oncology management system is Mosaiq and our planning system is Eclipse. Poole also runs a satellite radiotherapy service in the neighbouring town of Dorchester where we operate one of our four Linacs.
Interview Date – 18th November 2025. Full‑time staff currently work their contracted hours over four days and are given a rolling day off each week. The post is based at Poole with a rotation between the main and satellite unit at Dorchester during a typical year.
Applicants must be educated to DCR(T) / BSc (Hons) or equivalent and be registered with the HCPC.
Base Location: Poole Hospital.
UHD’s values define who we are as #TeamUHD. They underpin everything we do now and in the future, influencing how we treat our patients, visitors, and each other, and how we value our teammates and colleagues.
UHD is investing in services across the Trust, with many being transformed and developed following the merger and the New Hospital Programme. This means that some services may move site this year or next, temporarily or long term. Recruiting managers interviewing for this role will be happy to answer any specific questions you have at interview.
Please note that if the role or service is relocated as part of a planned move, employees will not be eligible for excess mileage reimbursement. Travel from the postholder’s home to the new work base will be considered a normal commute. Other changes not related to this relocation will be managed according to the relevant Trust or National terms and conditions.
This advert closes on Monday 3 November 2025.
