Lead Data Engineer – J.P. Morgan Chase (IPB Technology Team)
Location: Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom
As the lead of the Platform modernization data engineering team, you will partner with business and technology stakeholders to modernize the PMOD platform. Your responsibilities include driving data strategy for static and reference data, ensuring consistency and synergy across the global platform, and delivering end‑to‑end solutions across web front‑end, back‑end services, and database components.
Job Responsibilities
* Work with business and technology product owners to prioritize the product backlog.
* Drive the program roadmap and own the overall application technical architecture and design.
* Contribute to development across system components, including web front‑end, back‑end services, and database.
* Manage and oversee contributions of team members.
* Facilitate communication with business and technology stakeholders across the organization.
* Promote and practice Agile methodologies such as Scrum and test‑driven development.
* Collaborate with global peers to ensure consistency and synergy across the platform.
* Support platform activities across all environments, including production, in a DevOps model.
* Own end‑to‑end delivery of products and work with management to manage or mitigate risk.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
* Formal training or certification in data engineering concepts and advanced experience.
* Software development experience using database technologies and middleware (e.g., Core Java, Spring, Spring Boot, JUnit, Mockito).
* Experience in application architecture and design.
* Experience with database technologies such as Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
* Experience building REST APIs and AWS Lambda functions.
* Knowledge of test‑driven development and testing frameworks.
* Knowledge of cloud technologies such as Cloud Foundry or AWS.
* Knowledge of messaging technologies such as Kafka or IBM MQ.
* Knowledge of data formats like JSON and XML.
* Experience with Agile development methodologies.
* Experience with version control tools such as GIT.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
* Experience in the Wealth Management domain.
* Knowledge of container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker).
* Experience building microservices.
* Experience with distributed caches (GemFire, ehCache, Hazelcast).
* Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Splunk or Dynatrace.
