We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Band 4 Nursing Associate to work within our Leighton Buzzard Primary Home Care Team. You will be based in Dunstable, but cover the Leighton Buzzard area, however there is an expectation that staff will cover across the bases if needed. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills in the community nursing setting, with the possibility of being supported to complete your Nursing qualification. You will have the opportunity to be involved in facilitating self‑care for patients with long term conditions, health promotion and innovative activities and projects that enhance patient service delivery and staff wellbeing.


Main duties of the job

Experience in the field of adult community services is desirable but a willingness to learn and contribute is more important.

Job responsibilities

You must have a driving licence and have access to a vehicle in order to carry out your duties. You will be required to work a shift pattern covering 7 days a week from 08:00-21:00.


Person Specification


Education

* NMC Registered Nursing Associate
* GCSE Grade A-C in Maths & English or skills level 2 Maths & English or equivalent


Other

* Motivated to providing the highest standards of care in a changing service
* Able to work on an internal rotation shift basis and flexible working
* Awareness of equal opportunities in the workplace
* Able to work within the accountability framework
* Personal Integrity


Experience

* Work experience relevant to the post
* Managing challenging and aggressive behaviour
* Working within a multidisciplinary team environment
* Experience of working in a multi‑cultural environment and knowledge of methods to develop culturally sensitive practice
* Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate
* Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information


Knowledge

* Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development
* Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code.
* Knowledge of when to seek advice and elevate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice
* Understand requirements for NMC professional Revalidation
* Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans Good verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to assess, plan, implement and monitor care
* Able to work systematically and objectively in an environment with patients who can present high risk Able to manage time so that deadlines are met
* Ability to recognise stress
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Able to work sensitively and compassionately with patients
* Emotional Intelligence and Personal Resilience
* Awareness of supervision and reflective practice
* Able to identify and act upon critical deterioration of patient conditions
* Ability to develop effective and appropriate relationships with people, their families, carers and colleagues
* Ability to support, supervise, assess and act as a role model to nursing associate students, other learners and health care support workers as required within the clinical setting.
* Provide leadership for junior staff
* Understanding of de‑escalation

£28,392 to £31,157 a year (per annum), pro rata
