Prospero Teaching is looking for passionate, proactive and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants with a Military background to support the learning of pupils with SEMH who have been excluded from mainstream Education. About the Setting:
1. The role is based in an inspirational PRU setting in Billingham.
2. The School supports pupils across the Secondary School age range and there are opportunities to support pupils across all year groups depending on your preference and specialism.
3. The School has an outstanding supportive culture and Leadership Team, where staff work as a Team within classrooms to provide high standards of support to pupils.
Pay, Hours and Contract:
4. Pay – Between £88-115 per day
5. Hours –
6. Contract – Full-time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2026. Temporary Contract.
7. Start Date – ASAP or September 2025
8. Location – Billingham
About the Role:
9. The role is aimed towards individuals with Military experience due to the range of transferable skills that can be brought to the role.
10. The role will involve supporting pupils who have been temporarily excluded from mainstream school. Pupils display challenging behaviour and some pupils have varying levels of SEMH.
11. The role will involve supporting pupils on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
12. A key part of the role will be to build a rapport and a positive relationships with pupils to help them to engage with their learning.
13. A key part of the role will also be to develop an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of different pupils within the classroom.
Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:
14. A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desired)
15. Experience of working with Children in Schools in the UK
16. Experience within an SEN School or PRU Setting (desired)
17. An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
18. A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
19. Hold Right to Work in the UK
20. Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
21. Provide two professional references that cover the last two years
