About Us
Caritas Diocese of Salford is the principal social action agency of the Catholic Diocese. Our mission is to put Love Into Action. We help those across Greater Manchester and Lancashire experiencing poverty, disadvantage, and discrimination to transform their lives with dignity. We provide a practical response to those in crisis, suffering hardship or who are at risk. We rebuild lives for the long-term, enabling people to live in a safe, healthy, and secure environment. We call for a better, more just world, where the voices of the poor are heard and acted upon and positively influence the systems, decisions and resources that affect those in need.
About the job
We are advertising for Bank Activities and Support Workers to work a variety of shifts across our homelessness day centres and accommodation projects across Manchester and Bury. You will provide a friendly and professional welcome to people coming in and out of our services, as well as spending time with people in the communal areas and cafes.
During Activity Shifts you will deliver education, training and run positive recreational activities aimed at enabling people to connect, be active, learn and/or have fun, for example working in our internet cafe, or running cookery sessions, games or art and craft sessions. Shifts are between 9:00 – 14:00 on Monday to Friday or on a Saturday and Sunday afternoon for 4 hours.
During Support Shifts you will be responsible for doing building checks, dealing with emergencies, answering telephone calls, monitoring CCTV and undertaking minor domestic tasks. Shifts are evenings 16:45 – 21:15, nights 20:45 – 09:15 and weekends 08:45 – 21:15.
Experience of running activities and working with people that are homeless and may be vulnerable, or disadvantaged groups in a residential/similar setting is essential. You will also have good IT and admin skills and a positive approach to team working.
If this sounds like the next step you are looking for and you would like to work for an organisation passionate about transforming lives, we would love to hear from you!
Early applications are strongly encouraged as all applications will be reviewed as they are received, and we reserve the right to interview/appoint before the closing date.
Closing date: Monday, 22 September 2025 at 9:00am
