The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established team that is reviewing and updating the way we work with children and young people. As a specialist Harmful Sexual Behaviour worker you will be part of a network of professionals assessing and addressing risk and need. You will attend strategy discussions and provide consultation, advice and guidance in relation to presenting behaviours. You will provide effective interventions to children and families to address need and plan for safety. The work of the team is supported by a Clinical Psychologist who helps with formulation, trauma‑informed intervention planning and reflective practice.
Working Pattern:
This is a full‑time position (37 hours) based in Chy Trevail, Bodmin. Flexible working will be considered.
What you’ll need to succeed:
Qualifications: Applicants must have a Social Work Qualification or equivalent (such as Youth Justice or Targeted Youth Worker) or other therapeutic qualifications such as counselling, therapeutic life story work, art therapy, drama therapy, play therapy, and registration with an appropriate professional body (e.g., APAC, UKCP, BACP, HPC, SWE).
Experience: You must have experience working with children and young people with complex needs and demonstrate a good understanding of relevant theory/research and experience applying the evidence base to promote recovery from trauma for children, young people and families.
Skills: You will have excellent communication and assessment skills, be able to accurately record information on a database, and have a strong sense of the child’s lived experience at the centre of your practice. You will be familiar with critical reflection, positive challenge, and have a record of achieving good standards of practice.
This post requires the development of specialist knowledge in the area of young people with harmful sexual behaviours. A range of carefully selected training and professional development opportunities will be available to the successful applicant alongside regular professional supervision and support.
