Closing date: 28 April 2026
The Bader Gym, located within Queen Mary's Hospital in Roehampton, is a specialist, purpose‑built exercise facility open to people of all ages. The gym supports able‑bodied users as well as individuals with a wide range of physical conditions, learning disabilities and mental health needs.
Our service plays an important role in supporting patients from inpatient rehabilitation wards, individuals under MSK outpatient services, those continuing with falls‑prevention programmes, hospital staff and the general public. This creates a varied, rewarding working environment where exercise support contributes to rehabilitation, wellbeing and community health.
The role is for an enthusiastic Exercise Facilitator / Fitness Instructor / Personal Trainer with strong communication skills and experience working in a gym or exercise‑led environment. Responsibilities include delivering safe and supervised sessions, supporting user inductions, assisting with progression of exercise programmes and contributing to the day‑to‑day running of a busy rehabilitation‑focused facility.
Applicants should hold a Level 2/3 fitness industry qualification and have practical experience in exercise instruction. While you will work closely with clinical teams, this is not a physiotherapy or clinically banded post but an opportunity for those passionate about inclusive exercise, functional fitness and supporting diverse user groups.
Main duties of the role
The Exercise Facilitator will coordinate the running of the Bader gym, supervise the three fitness instructors and assess clients' fitness needs to design suitable programmes. Duties include overseeing the daily running of the gym, advising clients on equipment use, monitoring safe practice, and leading group exercise classes.
Successful candidates will have a recognised gym instructor qualification, significant gym experience, excellent communication, a professional manner, patience and an understanding of the needs of disabled users.
