The post holder will act as the Trust lead for pharmacy's service to the University. Interprets the needs of the University and negotiates a range of pharmacy services to meet them. Represents pharmacy and the NHS to the University and ensures that the pharmacy department and NHS are taken account of in the University's development plans. Attends the University Delivery, planning and development of teaching and assessment. Post holder will lead and delivers the provision of clinical practice-based teaching to pharmacy students from Aston University in line with curriculum requirements through a team approach. Education and Training The post holder will support the pharmacy departments aspirations inachieving and maintaining the highest possible standards of clinicalpharmacy excellence. Supporting the various training initiatives within thedepartment directed at undergraduates (taught at the University, and onsecondment to the hospital), and contribute to postgraduate education(both university students and employees of the trust). The training may be in the form of supervised ward visits, seminars,workbooks, project setting, case studies, lectures, workshops, examquestion setting, marking, supervision of exams, preparation of onlinelearning materials, etc. Acts as the Trust lead for pharmacys service to the University. Represents pharmacy and the NHS to the University andensures that the pharmacy department and NHS are taken account of inthe Universitys development plans.Clinical PharmacyThe post-holder will be part of a team providing a clinical pharmacy service to theTrust and will be responsible for: - Providing an excellent standard of Clinical Pharmacy service to a speciality,on wards Supporting the assessment of medicines management competencies. Undertaking Directorate work on drugs usage and costs, medicinesmanagement processes, and changes in practice Support research and audit by students and others within the department Work with the ward based and dispensary pharmacy teams in thedevelopment of and maintenance of the Trusts pharmacy services. To liaise with medical, nursing and other staff as appropriate, to ensure thatthe patients treatments are reviewed regularly from a clinical perspective. To ensure that safe systems of handling medicines are in place and thatnational guidelines and local protocols relating to medicines managementare adhered to. To participate in the provision of the total pharmaceutical service, includinga contribution to dispensary rotas on weekdays, late duties, and publicholidays. The department provides a 7 day pharmacy service and the postholder will be expected to work weekends on a regular basis. As a registered practising Pharmacist with the General PharmaceuticalCouncil, the post-holder must undertake Continuing ProfessionalDevelopment CPD and meet the mandatory requirements
